What the future has in store:

Right now the main goal is to get it back on the road. My nieces and nephews will be down here for Thanksgiving and have already expressed an interest in going for rides. I want to make this happen. They are headed home that Friday so I don't have a ton of time. After they leave though, it will be time to address some things.
First thing will be to replace the pans. Both sides are pretty rough. At that time, while the body is off, I plan on doing a complete rewiring. Also will be removing the body lift, which will lower it 1 1/2 inches.
While the body is off, and if funds and time allow, it will be getting a complete color change.

A fresh start with the wiring is a very wise decision, I would be more then happy to help with that.

Been doing a little bit of work to the wiring.

Grounding block installed for the rear lights. The way the lights were grounded before was to the fan shroud, which wasn't always grounded.

Gonna install some more of these in the future for the front grounds and for the dash grounds. Handy and pretty inexpensive.

Have a plan for the pans now. Waiting on a quote on materials but going with a 1X3 rectangle tube for the perimeter, and 16 gauge flat steel for the floor. This will give me a little bit more room to install the cage I want to build.

Why I am replacing the pans...

I installed one of these badboys when I rewired my sister's OG wooden boat. http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=Boa ... ORM=IDFRIR

Super clean, uses blade fuses, and has a ground bar built in.

Some more engine pics from tonights festivities!

Swamp monster piston drained

Frozen #1

Cut #1, ready for removal

So much metal shavings, we decided to split the case. Which turned into a massive project. #2 piston also had to be cut up so we could reach the rod bolts. All the lifters were frozen in place. But the crank bearings are original, could read the VW part # and also the VW emblem, so progress is being made!

The case isn't that dirty. Its a fairly low mile motor that sat up for ever and locked up.
