Here it is pretty much welded out. There is a product called heatsorb that comes in a spray on application that when applied behind the working surface helps absorb the heat generated by welding/grinding. Helps reduce warpage. Will not grind till I find it.

Also fitted the body to the pan to check out how the holes in the new halves line up. looks perfect. I was worried that these Brazilian haves were going to be hard to fit, according to what I've heard from others, but these went in great. not flimsy either. Thanks to Jeremy for hookin' me up with that guy at the Chirco show. Otherwise I would have spent LOTS more money. Also, thanks to all the guys (dLk Az.) for their help thus far.

Sorry fellas, not the best picture in the world.

Looks great! I've used a product from Eastwood to absorb heat. It wasn't in a spray, it's a wet clay-like product. If you don't grind too long in ay one place it should be ok. The areas you welded are strong and should be ok if you don't grind too long in one spot.

nope, their hundreds of tacks, never concentrating heat on any one spot. takes a long time, but stops warpage.

Was a welder for over 20 years so I understand. Great job.

Dang skippy, looks great only to cut another hole in the roof  Cant you make long sweeping motions with the grinder and keep the heat down doing that?
