 When Jack rebuilt & polished the 48's he said the progression holes weren't drilled and said the car never ran to its right or to its potential. Doesn't really mean much to me but I hope it means it's going to be faster when I get it back

Drilling the 3rd progression holes will make the motor much more smooth and progressive at low throttle positions, which will make it a lot more drivable on the street. The way IDA's come there are only 2 progression holes in the low speed circuit, which makes them act more like an on-off switch than anything. They were designed to be a race carb and thus only opperate at idle or WOT. For reference, IDF's have 4 progression holes and are therefore very smooth at low throttle positions.
It won't really make it any faster, but it will be more enjoyable to drive.

Cool, that would explain why he asked me how it ran at low speeds  Thinking back it was actually pretty damn fast but you are right, it wasn't any fun to drive around at low speeds.
