I guess I never started a topic on my ride.... better late than never!

My wife said "since I never know what to get you for Christmas... just go buy something for yourself" -- That's how it works after 24 years of marriage,... pretty sweet, huh?

Well, I'm tired of touching up/repainting my exhaust system.... so, I called up Tiger at A-1 and he fixed me up with a nice new stainless system. Merry Christmas to me. :D

I liked it fine performance/sound-wise... it was coated mild steel and the coating didn't hold up. It rusted up and looked crappy. I rattle-canned it with VHT hi heat paint and that didn't hold up either.

.... and I love the look of a raw stainless system. I'm not gonna polish it.... in fact, I need to figure out a way to weather the muffler, which is the only polished part.

I would think that if you sand the muffler it will look like the rest of it. I went with the stainless steel one as well. I dont plan on polishing it either. Ill just hit it with a scotch bright now and then to clean it up.

I tried scotchbrite on the old muffler, which is also stainless, and that is gonna be a lot of elbow grease. The scotchbrite doesn't seem to "grab" the surface like it does on steel, aluminum, brass, etc. I might try some sandpaper.

Maybe bead or glass blasting?

Not really a big deal but I would like to knock down some of that shine.

I bet a acid etch would knock down that shine.
