This is our current [and last project ;) ...or at least that is what we're telling my wife]. This started with an abandoned '65 Bug project that my nephew gave us. While looking for parts for the '65 build I came across this guy selling some parts and a couple of projects. We got see this guys stash and the next thing you know we come home with some VW parts and two bugs that just followed us home.

Long story short we decided to keep the '66 and make it nice and reliable. We sold three other bugs including the '65 and so we are working on this '66.

Plans are Paint/body work, swap the 1300 for a mild 1641, raise the back and insert some drop plates, raise the front just a tad [sits too low for my taste and for the roads in my area].....and drive it like I stole it.

I got a pic of my bug at HKC patiently waiting it's turn.

I also mocked up the 1641....now to take it apart and paint.

My bug has been at HKC for a couple of weeks now so, I started feeling kind of itchy and fussy today, kind of like VW Project withdrawal syndrome :hillbilly:

so I went out to the garage and did some polishing on some aluminum carb linkage parts....not too bad compared to how they looked before huh :geek:

I got my '66 back from HKC this past weekend. Nope...no new paint job [long story, rather not get into it]. The bug got a 4 1/2 narrowed beam and a half pan redone. I'm happy and I plan to leave the paint alone just the way it is except for removing some primer and cleaning it up a bit. Maybe a paint job in a few months...not sure this look has kind of grown on me.

Here are a few pics. I'll post more this weekend.

Yea. That is Shawn's [Hard Knocks Customs] shop in Schertz. The one on the right belongs to a customer and the one on the left is a '63 Panel that is in pretty good shape. He might be selling it. If you are looking for a cool Split Panel project I would give him a call.

Hell, I f I had the $ I would buy it and have him slam it while it is there.
