Heard a mysterious clicking from the rear (possibly fulcrums) and I took it all apart! New swingaxle coming. My trans builder, Udo Johnson recommended a 3.88 with a .89 fourth gear, but then said I could get a lower final drive with a 4.12/.82 4th gear combination. Im wondering if I should go a little further and try a 3.88 with a .82. I plan to make it to fredericksburg, so I have until then to figure it out, I guess.

I think I'm going to go with a 3.88 and 0.82 the next time around. I'd really like the revs to be lower on the highway.

I'm running a 3.88 and a 1.04 4th, doing just shy of 3750 rpm at 65 mph on the freeway. I'm deaf for 30 minutes after I get where I'm going :P

Stock '67 ratios, 4.12 w/ a 0.89 4th.

My previous comment may be incorrect though, I think I mean to say a 4.12 with a "freeway flyer" 0.82 or a 3.88 w/ stock 0.89 4th. The 3.88 will make all gears taller, instead of just 4th.

Id be afraid to have my rpms that high on the highway for long stretches!!@
