On Wednesday this week I took the bug on a 110 mile trip into the mountains north of here for a photoshoot along with 4 other 40's and 50's VWs and Porsches. The photos and video will be used for promoting a rally that will take place later this year locally.
It was a great day with some really cool cars and great people. They've asked us not to share pictures we took, but they sent me this one this morning and gave me permission to share it, so this is it for now.

The amazing photographer was Timm Eubanks https://timmeubanks.com/

Crazy, what a small world that you know him! As you know, he's a sponsor of the rally. His stuff is really nice, i tried on a jacket that he sent to one of the organizers (Mark), it was awesome! His helmets are cool too, Mark had one of them too.

I actually saw a picture of your car in the vdubhub Rallye Rare-Air advertisement. So cool, is it safe to say you are going to participate?

Yup, I'll be there!
Mark from VDubHub really likes the rally look of my car and asked my to sign up for the rally and to do the photoshoot for the promotional material. Should be fun, never done a rally before.

The photoshoot was fun, but man was it hot up on that mountain! Some cool cars too, a '52 or '53 pre-A 356, a Heb, a '46 Roll Top, and a replica of a '55 550 Spyder. My car was among good company.

That thing is pretty amazing. Its a one-off they made. The molds for the body were pulled off an original car, and the chassis and everything were hand made to be exact replicas of the originals, no VW pan on that one. You would swear it was the real deal looking at it.

The Outlaw Oval is going to be down for a while... :(

Trans is having issues, loud growling noises coming from it when the car is moving. I replaced the rear wheel bearings, that wasn't it, and it isn't coming from the front ones either.

I think I am going to make my apron removable, it's such a huge PITA getting that big engine in and out of the tiny 36 horse engine compartment...
