Saw this car and talked to Brian for a few minutes at this years Vintage Treffen. Car looked great, loved the theme and execution. I had not seen this thread for a couple years and did not put two and two together until today.

Nice meeting you and talking to you man! I didn't realize you were on here... cool!

For anyone who may not have seen it, Ming from Vintage Speed made a little video on the car

So Brian,
I know you have done a lot of thinking about manifold length with respect to tuning pulse tuning. A typical IDF/DRLA manifold length is 7 inches, similar for IDA manifolds. The short IDA manifolds I have are 5.5 inches, I assume yours are similar.

So when you were working on your pules tuning were you focused on you intake valve to venturi length or intake valve to velocity stack length?

Thanks,
Jeremy

The major wave reflection is off the opening of the velocity stacks to the atmosphere. So I used the length form the back of the intake valves to the opening on the velocity stacks, along the centerline of the path. I run Berg short IDA manifolds with about 5/8" of spacer (1/2 custom aluminum spacers + 1/8" poly spacers/isolators) to get the length I wanted based on the expected RPM range I designed the motor for. I've got a harmonic right around 7500 RPM that gives it a little "boost" right there and helped me get 100 hp per liter. Fun stuff 8-)

After all this time, the Outlaw 55 is going to be used on the track! I plan to start auto crossing the car in a few weeks, and eventually doing some track days (road course) with it. So, even though the car seems to handle well on the street, I've got some work to do to prep it for the track. The car is a pretty solid platform though, with plenty of power, an LSD diff, adjustable shocks, springplates, and front end, high performance tires in 195 and 205 widths, 4 wheel disk brakes, and a 6-point roll bar to stiffen things up.

First thing is a proper alignment. I've just ordered a set of toe plates for setting the front and rear toe. I've got an accurate digital level for measuring caster and camber already.
For starters, the car was too low in front. Although it looked really cool, it's not great for handling. I cranked the front adjusters up all the way and brought the front (measured from the ground to the center of the fender arch) up from 21.5" to about 21.75" (adjusters were already nearly maxed). The front caster was close to zero degrees, so today I added a set of caster shims, which brought me to about 5 deg of caster and raised the front end to 22.125", which is level with the rear, exactly where I wanted it. Admittedly, the car doesn't look nearly as cool lol.

Other than setting/checking the front and rear toe that's probably it before my first day at the track with it. Although I may stiffen up my adjustable Koni's before then too. Then, depending on how the car does I will probably add a 19mm front sway bar and maybe a rear camber compensator to help tame the rear swing axle. I may also add limit straps in the back, also to tame the swing axle. More to come...
