Well, I finally got my butt back in the shop and got the 36-er built up. It's finally back on the road! It's a hoot to drive around... kinda slow, tho :)

Thanks.

Yes, I started with the WW kit. I had the heads cut to bump the CR up to 8:1. I also had Joe Ruiz tweak the carbs. He adds bronze throttle bushings, a new venturi sleeve, and slightly different jets.

Different design jets or just different size. How much of an increase in power over a stock 36 does it feel like?

Different sizes. I've never had a 36 before, so I can't tell you how much power the upgrades make. All I can tell you is that it's damn slow compared to my bus. 8-)

Got the ol' '60 back on the road recently. I wasn't happy with the dual carb setup on the WolfsburgWest Okrasa kit. Just couldn't get them to sync in or run smooth. Mixture was way off. Tried all kinds of different jets, settings, etc. Spent even more money an another set of modded carbs by "Mr. Okrasa" and for some reason or another, they were much worse. Got busy on other things... lost interest.... time passed.

So, about a month ago, I ran across a NICE OG stock 36-er, stuck it in the car, and I fell in love with the car again. Still slow as Christmas, but runs like a top.... very smooth. It's a blast to drive around town, but interstate runs are pretty sketchy. I'm basically a rolling road block  :|

This pic sums it up

Nice, nothing better than putting old VW's back on the road. I was thinking it might be cool to get a slow moving vehicle sign like the Amish put on their horse drawn wagons and mount it like a d plate.
