So the truck runs, but only when the key is in the crank position. As soon as I let go, it dies. Hit it back to crank as it is dying and it will come back to life. I think I have the 30 and 50 terminals crossed. One more thing for the list.....

Ignition wires were switched. Fixed the problem and the bus now starts and runs. It needs a tune up. It doesnt help that the carb is loose on the spacer plate. I will be putting on Baby Webbers soon.

Fog lamps are wired in and are bright.

Brake drums finally showed up. I need to mount them up to check the fit before they get cleaned, painted and turned.

Latest update!

I was on track to have this thing running and driving to take it to the Demontron show. Then I caught a damn fever!...still sick :(
Wednesday: I get the dual Webbers installed. CB Performance intakes and linkage. Not entirely happy with the quality. I had to Mod a couple of things to make it work. If I were a newb trying to install this it would have been a failure. I get it to fire up just to hear it run. I have a fuel leak at one of the lines, easy fix...it can wait until next time I get back there. I gotta wrap it up for the day....
Thursday: Focus on the brakes. Mikee comes over after work to help bleed the brakes and I finished swapping out all the oily shoes for new ones. adjust everything, great pedal. No fluids of any kind are leaking! VW brake drums fit like a glove. The Brasilian ones had fucked up splines that I had to file to fit and then find out the inside snout is 3/8" to short. The 250 ft/# torque was only pushing on the end of the spines, not putting pressure on the bearing cap. That's why I had a bad gear oil leak. I'm still pissed at the money and labor I threw out the window on those things! Live and learn....
Friday: Wake up feeling like crap. Figure coffee and breakfast will fix that. Got to feel better by the kids nap time so i can finish up in the garage.
The goal was to adjust the E-Brakes and then quick fix the fuel line and then sync the carbs and drive it!

....See..what had happen wuz....

I ended up taking a nap the same time the kids did. Woke up with 102 fever and a headache. FML.... I've been up and down since then. I hate freaky fever induced dreams.

So hopefully I feel better tomorrow and I will get to drive it.

It's been 2 years...what's another day?

Mashed my fingers between the drum and backing plate....

I went for the maiden voyage today!!

didn't even make it out of the driveway...

I discovered I installed the R&P backwards in the trans. I have 4 reverse gears and 1 forward gear.
I now need to remove ALL of it and open the trans and fix it..... I was hoping to leave the carbs mounted when pulling the motor, but that's not happening. I can't get to the top engine nuts. It should all come apart fairly easy, its just a pain!!

It just got registered and insured too. FML

I have 4 forward gears and 1 reverse!
I drove it around the block last night and it felt great.
I need to adjust the clutch and brakes and then chase down a headlight gremlin. It's a ground issue for sure.
