Just less than a year ago I sold all my VW stuff to purchase a trailer because my wonderful daughter wanted to travel the state doing horse play days and barrel racing. Seven months after I did, she decided to join the Marines! Ah, I love my daughter...

So.... A few months back I picked up this '69 bug for a decent price. No motor, needed some rear pan work like normal. My plan is to make it my daily driver. Find me a bay later and do it up right!

Body off the pan.

Stripping all the old carpet and sound proofing off.

Figuring out just how bad the rust is.

Both patch panels in place, welded and sealed.

Body back on pan. Still have to weld in the heater tubes.

Found me a motor at a good price. Going to test run it with a second tranny I have to see what the compression/ oil pressure is and how it sounds to determine weather I tear it down or not.

Working on narrowing the beam now.

Just a up date. . .

Haven't given up on this, just moved to back burner due to my job and the heat. Now that it's starting to cool down some I'll be getting back to work on it.

Well I got my bug going a few weeks ago, drove her to work all last week. Done good, was happy to only spend $40 on fuel for the week instead of the $70 my wife's suburban cost. Here are some pics, she's sporting baby moons now.
It's nice to enjoy driving to work once more! :D

Thanks guys, oh I plan on keeping this bug for a long while. The only reason I got rid of my last bug was to help fund my daughters hobby. Our nest is empty now so I can enjoy my hobby again!

37.5 one way, so it is a 75 trek a day if I go now where else. A couple of gas stations several miles from my town have usually have fuel priced cheaper than the pirates in town. So I get it there, they are on my route and I don't have to make a special trip. I could possibly make it on a little less, but I don't know the fuel gauge yet. My '65 had a vdo gauge and when it hit the E mark it wasn't lying. The way I view it is I have to put fuel in anyway to make it the whole week, so I run it down under 1/2 tank. Drop another 5 gallons + or $20 bucks and I'm good to go.
