OK Round 2 guy's As most of you know I found way to much rust on the first 61 to the point I decided to part it out. Well thanks goes out to Kostya,Nate and LZ for assisting me in scoring this 61. Jeremy and I spent all day Sunday tearing it apart. I really did not want to start a build thread until I was sure it was the car to replace the old 61. Well we have found one super solid dry car. It will not have ANY replacement panels all original metal. The passenger pan has a small hole about the size of my finger nail directly under the seat (weird that no rust in battery tray area), and there is a hole 1 inch above the fuel tank that is the size of my thumb nail. None of the rust is major and I see no reason to even replace the pans. I am the third owner of this car, and I believe it lived most of its life in California. The plan is to paint it Anthracite because that will go good with the interior I have for it. Here are some pic's I left Houston at 6pm and drove to meet Nate in Dallas it made for a long night I did not get home until 4am and I had to work the next day. At Jason's shop the next day Notice the silicone on the seal....I laughed at that, but it saved the package tray it is spotless! Kiley is happy In its spot at Jason's |

The dash is uncut but it had this cool 8 track player I am guessing the previous owner was diabetic . This was in the headliner above the driver. |

The previous owner told me the first owner special ordered this car and took several months to get it. When she did she took it to Beverly Hills VW, the license plate holder shows the name. He said the majority of the oil change stickers were from CA. The door stickers were so thick he had to cut them off because the door wasn't closing right, a CA car that moved to TX. It was a daily until 4 or 5 months ago. The 8 track is a 12 volt Wolfsburg. I love this car, it's a bad motha f****!!! This is such a solid and dry car!!! It's awesome!!!! I'm happy I could help. |
