So this weekend I picked up a cheaper/more reliable DD to replace the Benz. 2010 (mkVI) GTI 6-speed in Deep Black Pearl Metallic w/ 96k on the clock. Got it washed/waxed and gave it a full LiquiMoly treatment with an engine flush, full synth. high tech 5w40 and Ceretec ceramic anti-friction additive. Air and cabin filter changed as well. Can I put a Luftkuhlers sticker on a wasserkuhler?

Thanks! It's fun and saving me money already! But with some mods planned it might not save anything!

They're fun cars for sure, despite having the motor and drive-wheels on the wrong end
I had a 2001 Jetta 1.8T back in the day, actually when I was living in Atlanta and then Houston. I had it chipped, down pipe, exhaust, intake, suspension, wheels and tires, etc. It handled well, was quick, and very comfortable on long trips. I never had any reliability issues either.

Finally got something fun for the GTI! Got a killer deal on a used APR carbon fiber airbox. I had the regular non-carbon one on my wishlist, but this one popped up even cheaper so I jumped on it! Hopefully it’ll free up a few ponies!

Nice! 8-)

I'm actually toying with the idea of pick up GTi like this (probably an mk7 though) for commuting. My drive went up to 32+ miles a day when I went to the startup, and at 15 mpg the FJ is really starting to bug me. The other thing I'm looking at are Audi A3 Quattro's, basically the same engine and chassis as the mk7 GTi, but AWD. We'll see...

Nice, yeah a MK7 was out of my price range a little bit. The A3 will be like the Golf R essentially. I really like these little cars. I’ve been averaging 35-40mpgs to and from work. Can’t beat that and still be able to have fun!

They are fun cars! That's great milage, I thought they got more like 30-33.

Yeah, the a3 Quattro is kind of like a "cheap" Golf R with a trunk
Smaller turbo than the R, but that can be fixed lol

This weekend I replaced the water pump and housing. I know, “what’s a water pump??” Lol
It was about a 5 hour job start to finish. Not bad for my first attempt. This pump was already replaced (presumably under warranty) but even then, it wasn’t the newest revision. Thankfully I was able to get an all cast aluminum version. Should be trouble free for a while now!
