Are you referring to Pop-Outs or vent wing?

Sorry vent window.

Sorry vent window.

Then No you do not have to take the rivet out to replace the rubber. Unscrew the bracket, remove the bolts, remove the wing window, replace rubber, reinstall vent wing. there is a slit in the rubber for the bracket.

Wolfsburg rubber and west coast metric rubber don't have the slits or at least they used to not. Sure would be nice if they did. Just cut the slit but don't take the rivets out.

The door rubber and seals suck. The worst part of putting a car back together in my opinion.

Billy I think you are meaning the area the latch goes through is not cut. the slit for the bracket is there on the WW rubber I have.

I remember the last time you had a hell of a time with those. They do suck.

They do suck, when I went back to vents in the 65 it was horrible. The scrapers are so tight the inner ones fold up. I tried the WD40 trick that didn't work. But thanks for letting me know.

On a side note I went back to metalorgy days and started taking some dents out of the fenders. Since I had a long day at work nothing releaves stress then beating on some metal. As I removed the fenders, I realized this car had blue fender beading and running boards. This blows goats because I purchased black stuff for this car.

Oh well another one of those small details I didn't know about, I'm putting the black stuff because I have it.

As rusty as this car looks its a solid car, it's a lot of surface rust, minus the pans. The heater channels are solid around where the fender go solid and all the screws have come out fairly easy. Minus the ones from the running boards. Making progress every day, kinda happy.

They are solid, just had several screws break off. I figure drill em out and tap them.
