Ok I its time to go ahead and announce that I have started the process of building my 67 with the complete Mendeola suspension system including the coolstop brakes front and rear. I have ordered my parts and I am waiting on them to ship. I should receive the crate by the end of the month or next month. It will be a body off job converting the pan to IRS to accept the Mendola True-trac rear system. I don't have my own pictures of the parts yet so I am posting the links from The Samba. I will post pictures of the car as is it progresses and I get the Mendeola parts.

On this build up I am going to attempt to follow the Maxxed out floor pan build up on Hot VW July 2007 to October 2007. In these articles it lays out some ideas for making some location brackets for the pan. It also shows how to install a hidden hard fuel Line with welded in AN fittings on the front bulkhead and rear frame horn. I am also considering getting it powder coated. I am Not a 100% certain about the powder coating but that's my plan. The previous owner sprayed a ton of rubber coating on the chassis, so I will be spending a lot of time grinding and prepping.

This is the current state of my project. Over the next couple of weeks I will be fitting the pans and stripping all the under coating. The Mendeola parts should arrive some time next month. June 2014. I will also begin stripping the suspension parts next month too. So if anyone needs a ball joint beam complete. I will have one. The power plant should be ready soon also. Its a 2332 being built by Barry Blythe. I can post details about the engine when I have it completed. I don't want to jinx it yet. I have been waiting for a while to get it home. Seems like its a never ending parts order. Always needs a few more things.

Keep the updates coming

So is the flat bar so you know where the holes need to be on the new pans?

Yes. I used 1" flat straps and 1/2" tubing. I marked the location on straps for the tubing after forming them to the curves of the pans.
Tig welded the tubes to the straps and then set them in place and welded the straps together. In the rear I did the same thing except I drilled holes and bolted the straps down where the body bolts go. Then welded the other strap with the tubes Locating the pan mount holes.

The holes on the pan really were not bad. The jigs were made to be able to do the pans body off with better accuracy. Did you want a close up picture of the mounting wholes on the old pan or new? Hey meant to ask someone how do you post more than three photos at a time? My account limits me.

I was mainly wanting to know how far off the holes are when you mount the new pan. Most people including myself just cut the old pan out and lay the new pan half on the tunnel and weld them on, a lot of times the holes are off by 1/4 to 1/2 inch on the new pan. With your jig you will be able to locate the holes and either cut away or add to the lip area so that the holes line up.

As far as posting more photo's the website only allows 3 per post if you are uploading. I post my pictures directly out of photobucket, because I post a lot of pictures at one time. Photobucket accounts are free.

Ok as soon as I can fit them up I will post photos and details about how well this jig thing works. This is my first pan replacement so it should be interesting. I did get the Wolfsberg West pans so I am hopeful that they are the quality shit. I am big on quality and performance. On the pans I will do my fitting and be welding them in at a later time. I have to cut some windows on the tunnel and repair someone's screw up on the clutch cable tube and also add the hidden larger fuel line. I will be welding the AN fittings to the pan so the fuel line connects right up and should look super clean.
