More work on the Dub. Car was in fairly bad shape once all was pulled apart. Below are a couple of pics of the pan. Had to replace the entire left side (strange usually it’s the right side), of the pan as well as welding up a number of holes in the right side. Pic of pan head has a coat of POR-15 (it’s not gray, as it looks, it’s actually gloss black.). Once I finish all the small other holes and tears, the entire pan will get the POR-15 treatment.
Even though the pan was in rough shape, the body is way worse. I’ve had it media blasted and had to stop blasting in many places as virtually the entire body was “skimmed” with filler. The blasting exposed a number of repaired panels and even the entire right side of the car was replaced at some time. The best parts of the body are the chopped top (done well), and the ‘64 style metal sunroof that was grafted on. I’ve even had to replace the aft sections of the body including a correct “H” pattern apron (new manufacture from England).
Well, that’s the current news...almost. I forgot to mention I was able to pick up a case that was set up by Lyle Cherry and now have all the basic parts to build a nice 1776cc with all new parts. I intend to have a mild street engine even with AC! Damon Harmon has a nice rebuilt street tranny for me that I’ll pick up after the holidays.....
More info as it breaks (should I say this ???) ...
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!!!
