Ok, so I recently found another 68 squareback that had 26K all original miles. Most of you know I already have a really nice 68 squareback wearing original paint and interior. Well, this one is even nicer... Take a look at the pictures below... I just couldn't pass on this one
The Story: So I saw this thin on eBay and the pictures were terrible... But, I could tell it was a nice car. I called the old guy and he picked it up in an estate sell in his town in Ohio. He had a deal working on it with the VW museum in Wolfsburg Germany but he was uncomfortable dealing over seas
When I say he was old school, I mean he was OLD SCHOOL
Anyway, I talked him into selling the car to me instead since I could insure $$$ in his account that day. He took the car down.
Apparently he knew of the car and the owner prior to buying it. He was also in communication with the owners son. He bought this car new in 1968 and only drove it son sunshiny days. If it was raining, he wouldn't drive the car. His son made him come pick him up.. His son said that he wouldn't even hardly let anyone else ride in the car with him as apparent by the wear on the seats.. He only let the dealership work on the vehicle and when they went under, he followed the mechanic to his new shop. That's the only shop that he would let service the vehicle. He wouldn't even let anyone remove the hubcaps... He had to do it himself
I also have what service records there was, be it not many.. When the son got it, he replaced the tires, wipers, brakes, and had all the fuel lines replaced. It's nearly 100% OG except wear items
That's all that's been done to this one
It got picked up today and should arrive at my shop on Tuesday
