About 3 years ago my wife made the point that the car started at my parents house, then I moved it to our house and then to our next house. She told me not to waste the car, get it driving or get it sold (she knew I would get it driving). The plan was to go through the pan and bolt the body on and drive the car to work out the bugs so I pulled the body off. With the pan I did new everything from the pan halves to the 4 wheel disc brakes. The body was going back on so I could drive the car with the intention of pulling the body, putting it on a rotisserie and doing a nice paint job so the work done was limited. I cleaned up the drivers side firewall lower corner that had some rust, drilled all the broken bolt or replaced the weld in nuts where necessary and threw the body back on.

I started a motor but I wanted to get the car driving in time to go to the Woodburn show in OR so I threw in a 1600 DP that was a runner but unknown otherwise. I put 100 miles on the car and off to Woodburn we went.

A week after Woodburn my I blew out my back so I now have a 10" scar and I am missing part of a vertebra, plans changed. I enjoy that I am not concerned about the car getting scratched up, I love throwing the dogs in and going. I was unsure of how much I would be able to do so I am leaving the car. I did get the engine finished.... post surgery I did some light work on it and I was not in the correct place mentally to do it so I got about 1000-1500 miles on the motor before it seized the main bearing. I know what I did wrong and it won't happen again.

So now a bit after the surgery I have a new motor that I started on my test stand a couple days ago and a 61 rag that I bought for my wife. She wants a nice clean driver so that is what is going on there, I am close to done with the pan for her car but the engine got in the way of working on it for a bit.

That's a great looking car! I love me some real drivers, over show/garage queens. Especially Ovals |

Thanks, I hope to be driving it again soon. I would have been done by now but I received the wrong cylinder shims 2 times before I bought them elsewhere, it cost me two weeks. |
