Nice lookin 73, Alex! it looks really straight. That is some crazy pushrod tube damage. But, SHOULD be a minor fix. it is close to the color of my 69. AWESOME FIND.

Thanks! Yeah I was thinking of Betty when I saw this bug for the first time

I did some shoping at Kar Parts today, I went there for pushrod tubes but Kermit offered me a excellent deal on a empi ceramic coated header so I came home with these...

Phew its a little toasty outside! :bs:

Seems like I have to come get some shade after each hour of working and cool down for a few minutes. Plenty of water on hand but still. I'm glad I have a wifi connection outside for me while I'm cooling down in the shade, the only place I'd be going if I came inside the house would be the shower  I can't find my gap feeler gauge either! I found some rediculous one someone else bought that only goes down to .007 so I guess all my valves will be a bit loose for a little while. I'm also thinking more and more of getting a quiet pack asap due to my neighbors giving me dirty looks while I'm staring at my chrome stinger

I did get my pushrod tubes installed and they were a peice of cake. Oil change completed and valve adjustment is just finished. Oil Bath air cleaner is in the final stage of drying up and exhaust is almost ready to go on.

To the mods if you can read this edited post enjoy your laugh. I feel like homer simpson.... "DOH"

Got everything lined up finally and fired her up. Sounds awsome, I can't wait to get my baffle put in. After all this work I finally got to double check the dwell, which is in good shape, Not bad for just looking at the points and adjusting them by eye (there were too closed). I found my feeler gauge and I'm going to double check all the valves when shes good N cold and re-set them to .006. I was also able to fiddle with the carb, H30/31 which I was told is a good carb for fuel economy, except mine is made in brazil  . I did unscrew the idle screw a couple of times with no luck (it still requires me to hold the throttle and gas it every now and then to keep it running), I then bottomed out the idle fuel mixture screw and it was still running! I guess I need to pull it apart and check everything. I might even pass it to Keifer if I can scratch my head enough over it, that is if he lets me (hes talked me threw seting my 34pic3 already to avoid me from having to buy a carb). Well its dark and time to get clean and get some dinner.

I'm just about ready to take some pictures. I did get to run it for a while making the ground shake :D But even with my tune up completed it still was having idling issues, I suspected the carb from the beggining but, the 1500 really did need a valve job (all of them were very tight).

Now I'm looking for a Solex, ONLY German, 30PIC-3(prefered). If anybody has one not in use locally let me know!

My H30/31 fuel inlet came off when I went to remove the fuel hose and that was the final straw, no more Brazilian carb's for me.
