Post subject:  Garvie’s 1950 Hoffman Standard Split
So I stumbled on this Standard awhile back through a Heb buddy. I was up in Cinncinati checking on an 11G I was thinking about buying. This Standard was lurking over in the corner and had been slated for restoration. They got as far as taking it apart, and then the owner got a Heb that required all his $$$ :mrgreen: :mrgreen: Long story short, I passed on the 11G and asked about the Standard. He agreed to sell it but then I realized I had too many projects :nono: :hillbilly:

Anyway, I knew Garvie had been wanting an oddball split for his collection and the rest is history. Me and Ethan took a road trip this last weekend and got the car back in Texas. It’s very similar in condition to my Heb and will need some metal work BUT, it’s a Hoffman Standard and deserving. Most of the major parts are there. Here’s some pics and I’ll let Garvie take it from here 8-)

What a great car! :D Soooo happy the stars aligned enough for me to get a shot at a cool Split.

The Hoffman history is really interesting, but just as exciting to me is the fact that it's the simpler Standard model, which is VERY different than a Deluxe Split.

There is plenty of time to decide, but initial thoughts are to keep the body and interior as OG as possible. I might even restore the 25-hp engine and run the stock crashbox trans.

The front beam is incorrect and no 16" wheels, and both are probably findable, but very expensive. Sooo, I may just put a nice custom beam, cool wheels, and give it a nice low stance for a while and have some fun with it.

Anyway.... first things first, so the body will go off for metalwork & paint, and I'll work the pan, suspension, and drivetrain myself. Gonna be a fun build for sure!

Also.... When I got hung up at home and couldn't go as originally planned, I just figured we'd reschedule... but not these guys! Eliot & Ethan went and got the car for me :thumbs: Great friends, for sure!!!
