As many of you know, Melissa and I picked up this 69 Fastback from Millers place in Cedar Hill last weekend. She named it Tallulah before the deal was even done. For the past few years, old VW's have been growing on her and she was wanting something of her own to work on and bring to shows and cruises with me and the club. She fell in love with the looks of the Fastback and even more so that they aren't too common. After getting her home, (Thanks Red, Scotty V, Errol, and Doug for helping out! And thanks Jeff for use of the trailer!) the first order of business was to assess what we had as far as parts and condition, and start gutting and cleaning what was there. Melissa is determined to do all that she can do on her own!

Loading up! (Quick note: I brought the original cosmics with good tires because I didn't think the old tires held air. Two of them did surprisingly.)

Had to stop at Buc-ees! That's when I noticed one of her headlight rings had bailed somewhere along the way.

I know so many would say leave the growth, but it had to go. Mel scrubbed it all herself! (Almost)

Before, during, and after the vinegar scrub on the nasty seats. And original trim re-installed.

Next plan of action is to start on rebuilding the engine (didn't come with one, or a trans...) sourcing and rebuilding a trans, rust repair, brakes, fuel system, etc.

It will need pans all around unfortunately, as it was worse than I had hoped. We will probably find more areas that need addressing as we go, so hopefully we can find someone to help us with that!

I am not sure I know what I am more impressed with..... How solid that car looks in the pics...or......how well your hair stayed groomed digging it out and loading it up. :hillbilly: w:pw Looks like a ton of fun ahead. Do they sell a good pan half for those? I'll bring my welder over when you get them.
