Stainless looks good but not sure you need it. How did you break it ?

I tight it too hard so put the old one back. Don't buy the brake stainless hose.

Is #1 the hose or the bleeder? Looks like #2 is the standard bleeder to me...

Brian may have some insight on this question, he has the same kit on his '55.

I've never owned an aircooled vw with discs for more than a few days, but...

That caliper hangs really low. And the bleeder is in the wrong spot. They look like generic rabbit calipers. If you can move the bleeder and hose, do it. If not, you probably need to take the caliper off and hang it off something at the top just to bleed them.

search thesamba, there are tons of people with the same problem on both the empi and CB kit.

I just gravity bled my car for the first time. pumped it and got some fluid out to the wheel, went and cracked the right rear open, some fluid came out. tightened and repeated for all the wheels. Then cracked them open individually. let gravity do it's work while I did other stuff. I had good pedal after that. I prefer the pump/hold method, but it works when you are by yourself

Pretty sure Erik is right. That caliper looks pretty low. Try and position it up higher and it will probably bleed much easier. Or use a pressure bleeder, that may do the trick.

These are rabbit calipers. Chinese copies.

here is the setup on an actual rabbit. You can see that they are the same. except way higher.

Problem is, your bleeder is below the brake line. pretty sure that will never work. Everything else I know of, the bleeder is on top of the line. You probably need to take the caliper off of the bracket, set them on top of the disc and try bleeding them. But again, search thesamba, I kinda remember lots of people with this problem. Stuff like this is why I stay mostly stock. It's easier on my head

I think Erik is right, to bleed the air out of the piston and lines you need the bleeder to physically be higher then the brake line. It's not a big deal to take out the two caliper bolts then slide the caliper up some on the disc, bleed it, then bolt it back where it is supposed to be.

I know that they are stamped R and L, but there are several reports that some of the calipers have been stamped wrong. you might try switching from R to L which may solve the bleeding issue.

here is a thread that talks about the incorrect stamping on the samba,
