backfire when you let off the gas sounds like an exhaust leak to me.

Plan to do a valve adjustment , oil change, and check the timing ... I also have another idle cutoff on another carb i'll try. :thumbs:

Also runs great on the freeway .. just when hot today had the issues. :thumbs:

D, the backfire is very little, but will look at that too. I'll check all nuts etc .

Is it running HOT?? is the intake cold after a little drive?

Fixed the crappy running car ... idle cutoff was loose and the points were tight. But i went to drive ir and ran great. I stopped to put a couple of gals of gas in it and still ran great. Then I guess the new gas kicked in... It hesitates on acceleration. Guess I'll pull that gas out and go to another pump.

I've been complaining that my car cuts out while going a steady speed every so often. Well I was drivning the other day and the car just died. :furious:

I changed the condenser and the car runs like a top. :dance:

Was it a bosch condenser?

Why were the points tight? did you properly lube the distributor lobes?

I wouldn't ditch that gas($$$ :shock:

), if it was me and I think I have a bad tank of gas, I will add a bottle of Seafoam to the tank.

the gas post was back in Sept ... I think I had a condenser going bad.
