especially since I have a full tank of gas and the fuel level is higher up then the fan shroud. I think I'm going to have a look at it.

Fix- Brian was correct, the hardline was nearly clogged. I cleaned it out with a torch and lots of berryman's, then drove the normal route. It's back to running like a boss

I just got back from driving it to my sister's house (approx 20 miles), trip successful but... I need to do a clutch next friday and flush out the fuel tank, and maybe adjust the steering box. Other then that stuff it drove good  it's definitely not as fun to drive as the notch nor does it get me any attention.

I took the day off from work and did this:
Registered/insured it (had to track down the PO and get some sigs  )
replaced the clutch
replaced the motor mounts
changed the oil
adjusted the valves
replaced one axle
bleed the brakes
replaced a headlight
cleaned all the rust off the crank and gen pulleys (it was so bad it chewed up the last fan belt in less then 50 miles  )
test drove on the freeway

It now gets the Supa Ninja mushroom stamp of approval. First thing in the morning I'm going to adjust the steering box and the clutch, load her up and drive to Austin

Driving a untested that has been sitting for 30 yrs on a 200+ mile trip wasn't the smartest decision but I'm going to chalk it up as a f-ing win! A couple of issues reared their ugly heads on the trip up to Austin but the westy trucked on, FIDO Fuck It Drive On.

Saturday- it was 5 hour trip to get there, the cross winds added a pucker factor 10, and there was a bit of a learning curve for hill management. 4 fuel filters and 4 qt of oil later I was there. Camped in the motel 6 parking lot, which wasn't bad at all, actually quite comfortable with the gas heater. Oh ya top notch was fun as usual.

Sunday- D Day, had a blast at the show. Got to cook breakfast for some of my peeps. I also scored lots of goodies in the swap meet, hell yeah! I was rolling about 600lb heavier on the way down but it cruised right along.

It's a driver but I got some things to take care of like sealing up the motor and replacing the wore out drag link.

I don't know why some people are scared to drive their VW's.
