Breakfast was awesome.

What was the final oil count. How many quarts did it take to go to Austin and back.

3 on the way back, but I think I'm over a quart low

Next weekend I'm pulling the motor and swapping tranny's, tear the motor down to a long block and clean it then freshen up the top end a little. It seems to have good oil pressure and the motor runs super cool so I'm going to forgo a full rebuild.

My plan was to seal up the oil leaks on the motor and just roll it like it is, well fate decided to give me a big push towards doing a upright type 4 conversion. Enjoy the pics of the carnage.

The new plan is to do a Joe Cali style upright conversion on that 1.7L 914 motor that I just picked up. In the meantime I'm going to just JB weld up those cracks and change the rear main seal and roll it till I have the 1.7 ready.

and my day keeps getting better and better

I JB welded it all up but that is only a temporary fix at best, I got to sleep on it but I might just take the plunge and put something a lot more reliable into it...I got to sleep on this decision. Let me know if you know of a good used 1600 sp or dp motor.
