That poor bus is going to loose its heart and soul. You should have just bought a Honda Odyssey. But I guess if someone just cant build an air cooled motor with power and reliablity thats an alternitive. Poor Poor bus.

And this coming from someone that has worked on Hondas for 20+ yrs.
Muahaahhahaa, I get to piss off purists

Heart and soul, I'm not a bus guy, I'm a type 3 guy. I got a vehicle that has tons of aftermarket and OEM support, parts are dirt cheap and good quality, and it just happens to be older VW with lots of charm, I only bought this thing for it's utilitarian capabilities. I can build a reliable powerful ACVW, just look at my notch, but I can't build this much power and reliability plus economy (160hp/161tq, I'm predicting 30+ mpg) for how cheap this swap is. Don't worry, as of right now the only part to get hacked will be the rear apron (which is removable), and a couple of access panels on the rear shelf. Lets be realistic, it's got 2 spots of cancer...she ain't cherry, welding will need to be done anyways. I wanted to roll on the OG motor but fate dealt me a good runner with 2 giant cracks in the case, it's destiny was already decided, I'm just the one fulfilling it.
That's all the justification I'm going to give, love it or hate it, it's going to happen and it will be awesome
Just to make my intent with the build absolutely clear, it's a
Zombie Response Vehicle. That means I need to be able to transverse mild off-road terrain, run over shit, haul lots of stuff for extended off grid activities, and to tow things like my small 4x8 trailer or pull my notch to shows

. I have not set any rules to this build, everything is fair game, there is nothing to limit my insanity...errrrr, I mean creativity. With that being said, the K20a is the perfect motor for my needs and it goes along nicely with the intent of the build.
The K20 should be in it before winter, I'm not going to do detailed postings here just occasional pics (blame Doug since he bitched to me about all my EFI/MS posts

). I will be updating a build thread in the conversion section of STF, this is the very first type2/k series build as far as I know of, and I will make a very detailed and comprehensive blog for freedom of information purposes. So enjoy the pretty pics when I post them
Jam you are correct, I should have gotten something different for my purposes, but I just can't afford a syncro Westy
