I was on the way but my car started running really bad so I turned around and limped it home. Took the carb apart cause I thought I might have a small piece of trash in the carb. I was right.

It filled the bottom of a sandwich bag about a pinky thick all the way across if this red powder. It's fine fine like baby powder.

I have no idea what it could be. I must have gotten a bad tank of gas. The filter turned dark after I filled last time and I changed the filter thinking nothing of it. Pretty weird stuff.

Never had a rust in my tank problem before. It's a real fine powder. Probly came with a tank of gas I bought. Might be an additive or dye of some sort. I have no idea. I saved it in a bag.

Found out what that powder is its rust in the tank. No the tank does not look bad on the inside but I believe it's called flash rust. I'm probly going to have to coat the tank in a por 15 type product.

Billy, I had the flash rust myself after a few full tanks full of fuel sloshing around a bit and a few filters, I don't have the problem. My flash rust was caused when I used a muriatic solution with a chain to clean it out then used water to rinse. So what I did next was to slosh gasoline in it and moved on.

An easy way to fix it is to do the muriatic acid/chain trick, rinse it out with hot water. Let it dry and flash rust, then slosh some phosphoric acid, that will turn the flash rust to a zinc like coating...problem solved. I need to do that to the bus when I have the tank out to do the motor swap, holy crap it has been clogging filters like crazy.
