You lost me .. when CPE says "I don't know" ... makes me want to curl up in the corner and cry :P

my answer was a little more simpler --more to the point of big power has been using them for years with out failure or even concern of failure.. the only thing that could be the Pauter Rockers Nemesis is harmonics and coil bind..

Honestly I had never thougth about it before you brought it up. I'm thinking it is the size of the bearings on those huge shafts. Larger bearings can inherently carry more load. It's just a good, solid design. I think on those Autocrafts they tried to use a standard size shaft, and hence the bearings were sized accordingly (small), I don't think they did their homework, and it came back and bit them (and many a VW owner) in the ass.

Yeah, I was bummed out when I took apart those Autocrafts to find the bearings cages messed up on 2 of the 8 rockers. I need to see if I can find the correct bearings and have them replaced.

I made a little progress a couple nights this week. I blueprinted the rod and cam bearings and set the cam thrust. My Berg 30 mm oil pump arrived the other day and I checked the clearance with the cam bolts... looks like I am going to have to clearance it a bit. The pump was a little costly, but looks to be worth it. Its O-ringed, has the outlet plugged, its blueprinted, ported on the inlet, and hard anodized. Its nicer than I thought it would be.
Ferrea said my valves should be done this week, so I really need to get off my ass and order my LS1 springs.
Next I need to clean and assemble the crank, do a final cleaning of the case and head studs, then assemble the short block.

Not a whole lot to report here, Still only have a few hours a week to get into the garage :(
I cleaned and assembled the crank. It was FULL of sludge and crap, I cleaned the oil passages with a brass pipe cleaner and got them spotless. Did the final cleaning on the case, installed the head studs and oil galley plugs, and assembled the short block.

My new PAC Racing Springs LS-1 springs should be in this week, and Ferrea finished and shipped my valves on Friday. So I can get those things to Darren around the end of the week so he can put my heads back together. I also need to have him re-hone my cylinders, they are all scuffed up from debris that was in my oil.

Slowly but surley it's coming back together. I eliminated a couple weak components (lash caps and my old valve springs), so we'll see what I can break next :P
