Got some road miles on this weekend and seems to be running good...a bit noisy (no insulation between engine compartment and interior yet)...but running good. Need to adjust the reverse lockout plate as we were hitting reverse on down shifts from third to second and sometimes third does not go in all the way.
Finished off the rear seat back and that was pretty strange and also started to install the bumpers. Now the bumpers are a little harder than I was planning on since the tub isn't 100% straight. The front I knew I was going to have some trouble since the nose section was replaced, but I finally got it on. The rear is another story. With the main brackets pulled all the to rear, the deck lid hits the bumper :( Off it came to be looked at next weekend.
How much of a gap between the front hood and overrider bar and rear deck and bumper should there be?

You just gotta man handle it. Grab the top of the blade and bend it. It took Eliot and I both to get about an 1/8 of an inch clearance on the rear decklid of the twinkie. Tweak it enough so that it closes and call her done.

And what is the combined weight of you and Eliot? I'm working on around 145 :hillbilly: I might elong the bracket holes a tag more if I can't bend the blade.

Unless you bought the 1000.00 dollar bumpers they should be easily tweaked.

Thanks guys. I'll do the tweaking.
$1000.00 bumpers :wow: Is that each or the pair? I got the "medium" grade ones and my financial advisor (ie wife) nearly shot me for these :D

Need help :help:
Trying to figure out the shift lockout plate ajustment. I didn't take note of the orientation when I did the disassemble. I've checkout Samba and most of the workbooks and I am still not sure which direction orientation the dang thing goes.
The plate that came off the car was flat with a raised ramping edge on the inside shifter hole. The 2 mounting holes where modified to make them bigger and offset. The new plate I got has the same raised ramping edge but it also another bent up edge on the opposite side.
Whats happening is that sometimes it trys to go into reverse going from 1st to 2nd and from 3rd to 2nd. Also sometimes 1st is hard to find.
Pictures of your installation?
