Hot Spark REVIEW
The HotSPARK guy lives here in Austin and because of the location and cost.
I thought I'd give it a Try.
Extremely easy to install and works very well --
ISSUE: most car's need the resistor to keep voltage low at the coil.If you don't have one the Unit will over heat. I know of three cars here in Austin that run the Hotspark and have no
problem with it and it nice to not have to worry about points ever again..
Side note: for a cleaner install I run the resistor inline from up front at the fuse block so that you don't have a bulky block in your engine bay.. that is just how I do it..
I ran the compufire system (the one in the Mallory) and pertronix in a 009 with out a resistor because they seem to handle voltage allot better. Other than that they are all the same.
More saturation of the coil and no setting points - a good way to go in my book..
Good to know. I was planning on getting one for my car the next time I went to Austin. Thanks..
