Picked this up a month or so ago, finally had a chance to assemble it and mess around with it a bit. I still need to pick up a regulator, tank, and plain wire. I practiced welding on a plate last night with flux core. Woke up this morning with a little sunburn on one arm.
I have some projects in mind for my '55 8-)

If you plan on sheet metal repairs, I would highly recommend a gas cylinder instead of flux core. It is like night and day. I thought I sucked at welding until I switched.

Yeah, I'm planning on getting a tank and regulator and non-flux core wire. For now I'm just messing around with the flux core stuff.

Here's some questions for you more experienced welders...

What size wire should I use for body panels? What about for say 1/8" steel?
What shielding gas should I use? 75% argon/25% CO2?
What size gas tank should I get to fit my cart?

Thanks in advance for your help.

I have .023 for my welder when using gas and .030 flux core when I run out of gas. I hate my small bottle cant remember if its a 5 or 10 pound seems I run out all the time. (this may be due to my poor welding skills) I know the gas is a mix but I tell them what I am welding when i get it filled and they tell me what I need so I really dont remember.

75/25 is what most people use.
If your buying a tank I would get the big one and likely have to fill it every couple years if you use it moderately.
.35 is what we always used when welding up to 1/4 inch plate
