SO means special order- you could order a Bus from VW and have in modified to your liking- most added the westie camper kits- the 42 indicates what was added to the base kombi - I sound all smart now

The front seat swivels around to face backwards. You could sit on the driver seat and turn 180 degrees. Apparently this was special order and most panels only had a drivers seat only. You could order a swivel seat passenger but according to Vw it never happened.
