A California Classic roadtrip would be tough and risky.... but worth it.

All we'll need is a cell phone, credit card, and a couple of weeks vacation, right?? 8-)

This has already been my goal for this year and next, traveling in a pack helps. I want to drive in a type 3 I havent even found yet, kick it the weekend of the classic, head up the coast to see my folks, fly home and leave the car there. Fly back in September for the type 3 rally http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=571113 then drive it back home

Ambitious for a car I don't own yet, but it's do-able. J-Dot is finishing his SSK resto to drive it from NY to FL as I type this. My friends Bubba and Josh drove from Orlando to Irvine for the 2009 classic in a slammed 21 window on fuchs. It's do-able. I'd like to get in some Route 66 time too, bucket list item, but that's a pretty big detour. Maybe on the way back. Fingers crossed that I can find the right car to build up

It's totally doable and not risky at all. Ive been on trips where cranks broke, I had to rebuild my engine in the middle of a car show from swap parts one time(long story over beers some time). All this to say we can tackle anything as a group and it's WAY more fun. I do like the drive out, fly home, go back at a later date and retrieve your car plan to split up the journey, but I'm convinceable.
