Im gonna be blunt here.....

That drive sucks donkey bawlz! I-10 is the devil's road to nowhere!! It took me 1 day to El Paso(Dirt) and then another day to LA.(Dirt with mesas and tumble weeds) And then another day to Sacramento (hypnotic rows of produce flashing by).....

I came back I-20 into Amarillo and then came south. It was alot more scenic. Rout 66 goes along there (Somewhere). It was a longer drive, but way more enjoyable. It would be an epic ride for sure. People would think you are crazy these days, but that's how Grand dad rolled.....Tell them Wayne!

Side story: When We got to Kaliforny they had a border patrol station/check point. Wanted to know if we had any produce..."Like lettuce?!" "yes" ......"Just on my sandwich, does that count?" He stared me down for a minute then told me to get moving.....who the F**k smuggles oranges INTO California?!?!

I'm open to a better route I40 / Route 66 if that is better, but im not in charge anymore, right 69vduber?

And yeh California's attempt to block us produce smugglers at its borders cracks me up. We got stopped on Donner Summit all the time on our way to the Sacramento Bug-O-Rama or Kelly Park show in SF. "Any fruits or vegetables ?" Predictably, I point at my buddies and say "just these two !"

Looks like the I-40 route is about 1,650 miles from Houston to Irvine.

I'm already marking this trip in my calendar!

Every CA Border. It's not the fruits and veggies, it's the insects on the fruit and veggies.

Yep, I like the idea of the I-40/Route 66 path much better.

Good thing insects can read signs to stay out. No border jumpers.
