Nice looking motor! When you want a little more power you can swap those K-dawgs out for some 44 IDF's. In the mean time, Kadrons are great little carbs
Good choice on the A1 exhaust, that's all I've ran for the past 6-7 years. You know that you don't need a gasket between the collector and muffler, the surfaces are ground flat so they seal w/o one. One less gasket to worry about ;)

Thanks Bro, trying and learning. You know this my first car and I was back and forth about what I wanted to do. So I was originally just cleaning up a 1600 it came with. Well that went from using some of the parts to none of the parts then finally a all brand new motor.I described to the mechanic I want reliability and that what he suggested. All St. Thomas is very hilly, not much flat land here so I wanted to be carefull this time around. In hind sight the money I spend I could have built a much larger engine. But you gotta crawl before you walk so this is me crawling in to the VW game. For some reson my mechanic says he doesn't like IDfs becasue the fuel clogs the iddle jets, and I really wanted IDAs powder coated black with anodized red velocity stacks, but I have a 1" RL tanny raise kit on my car and the velosity stacks would have touched for sure and I really didn't want to stand off the deck lid. You made a good point to becasue he made a coment about there not being a gasket for it. lol Not may side winders on island, think i'm the second person with one.

I don't think IDFs have more clogged idle jet problems than other carbs, a 0.5 mm or so hole is going to clog no matter what its on if there is junk floating around. The key it to use good fuel filtering and high quality gaskets in the carbs. Always make sure you get carb gasket kits with the ""paper" style gaskets, not the gray "fiber" type gaskets.

Anyway, I'm sure your car will be plenty fun to drive with the motor as it is, it may be making in the neighborhood 100 hp, which is nearly 3X what an oval came with

Yeah that's true, I'm still learning about motors so I won't act like I'm and expert cause I'm far from it. I just trust my mechanics choices on functionality. Aesthetically.......that's my department! Lol yeah he said 100+hp. Just what I need to get around. Maybe I'll change the carbs later.
