Is this the kit you used? http://vwparts.aircooled.net/RLR-1-Tran ... 00-101.htm

Did you weld in the midmount if that is the kit you used?

Also did you have any issues with the sidewinder?

Sorry for the delayed responce bro. Yes that is the kit I used and yes the mid mount had to be welded in. The 4 threaded studs on the tranny you see in the picture you change on the tranny so it bolds into that mid mount.

The head covers will touch the bottom of the side trays, so you will have to make a slight cut there and the side winder did touch the inside of the apron but it can be cut with out damaging the integrity od the apron. If this was a split or a real rare car i would not have used the raise kit.

Nice job. Can you post some more detailed pictures of the work you had to do for the kit? I am very interested in how you did everything and if you have run it to see if there are any clearance issues with the valve covers or A1.

Again, very nice car.

How bad does the engine tin look with the 1" gap? Did you do anything to compensate for that?

You mean the actual welding in of the RL kit or the cuts I made for the engine to fit Ryan? There were Cuts that had to be made for the side trays not to sit on the valve covers & the header touched the inner part of the apron but I made a few cuts and there are not visible.

I was concerned that the tin was going to sit and inch above the side trays, but they don't, hard to explain but I'll take some pictures this weekend when I got to the garage to work on it. It looks fine to me. I would have drilled out the side tray and move them up if I had to. The tins usually sit 3/4" below the top of the tray now it is a 1/4" above its hardly noticable and after I put the rubber seal back I don't think it sill look strange. IMO Now the brest plate it another situation it does not fit but I had mine poweder coated and have not cut it yet but we fit it and wit a few snips it would fit. And all the cuts will be not visible wheni open the deck lit.
