I would assume we would stay at hotels.

I would think that after spending 10+ hours a day in a VW you would want a real bed to sleep in, lol
It's going to be pretty hot that time of year too, I'm sure you guys will be dieing for a shower at the end of each day too :P

Sounds about right.. I was thinking around 65/70 average MPH would be around 8 hours of driving a day..
but stops for fuel-pictures-fun would be awesome also.. make the trip that much more-er funer-er-er...

Glad we all agree no camping in route.

Per Scotty's suggestion, do we want to leave Amarillo on Wed or Thurs AM? I vote Wed so we can hit some shop parties etc on Friday in LA, but I'm flexible as i relize its going to dig into everyone's vacation days.

IMHO any caravan with >2 cars needs a good 2 way radio per car. It's a huge time saver if someone pulls over to check something and navigating large groups in traffic via cell phone just plain doesnt work. I can't emphasis this enough. Ask Santa for one if you don't already own a radio and a headset to go with them, its a necessity. You just can't hear in our old aircooleds at speed.

Check out something like these not that expensive and you only need one.

Rut Roh.......... The date for the Cailfornia Classic has been moved form the traditional 2nd week of June to two weeks later than usual.

Could cause some commotion.

Good catch on the date change! After reading the thread over on TS, this looks like a gong show out in So Cal now.

I go for the OCTO meet primarily. (i could actually skip the classic and go to the beach) but the sum total of all the other events, shop parties, open houses, cruises etc makes it worth the 3k mile drive over just a few days.

My vote is we wait till next year and hope they get this sorted out. I'm up for an alternative group caravan if someone has an idea. If it wasnt my 20th wedding anniversary this Fall I'd suggest Solvang .
