That's coming along nicely. Its amazing how photos play tricks on the old eyes. That frame head sure looks tweaked on the driver side.

Split trim on the painted running boards

Painted behind my bumpers black too. They are fiber glass so the back is kinda rough looking.

I dig the fast fab gauge holder  What gauges are you running? I like the look of them.

I have another question for you, I know you where dissatisfied with the restoration on your sunroof mech. Did John ever make that right? I noticed the metal was very pitted in your pictures, I figured since he powder coats them there is not a lot that can be done to the metal. I am just wondering if the pitted metal is what you where dissatisified with or was there other major problems? I was going to send mine to him mostly because I want all the inner parts re coated with I think is cadmium (sp?) for a fresh from factory look. I am not sure how pitted my bow is but I can see where that really does not matter since it is covered in material.

Hey Ethan sorry for the late response, yeah the fast fab gauge holder for the 57 and down is new I think, I like it too. The gauges are New Vintage Gauges from summit. I wanted some plain but cool looking ones. Part # NVU-67126-01 $72.40

What happen with John had a little to do with restoration and more to do with the fact he wasn't honest with me. It’s a long story but its more so his attitude, and him telling me "I'm not going to listen to you whine" when I calmly told him I wasn't pleased with what I saw in the box. He was rude and unprofessional, but the mechanism was if good working order. It’s just to find rust on something I was told will be powder coated, and to be all scratched up, his response was "why do you care about that it is getting covered in glue". I gave him the mechanism I bought, sent him $275 to restore it then he asked for $295 more to give me the one he had ready to go. I spent another $80 for something else but he gave that back, and I never spoke to him again. See him to the Classic every year and never say a word to him. I spend close to $1000 and opened a box and saw rusty parts.

There is a guy I bought some stuff from that does them as well. http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/ ... id=1468525
