as for that float sender, I've also never seen one used on that late of a tank. Is that neck taller on the tank? I don't remember them looking like that...

I've had a couple of those senders, NOS with date stamps still showing. Yes, that wire should be much longer, there should also be a little plastic or bakelite block. Thats not the right nut for the end, I think thats actually for gauge mounting

Now, I don't have any more of those senders, or the gauge, but I do think I still have the dash piece for the small round electric VDO gauge, and the fibre screen stuff behind it. Originally, I thought it was just a hack, but the circle is perfect. Yours if you want it. I also have seen the dash grills that were stamped to have a round gauge. Been a while since I've seen one

and, I take that back. As you can see, mine are straight, yours is bent. I just saw another bent one, and it does have that nut on the end. Pretty rare, it must really be 61 only to fit that tank specifically

That block off is bad ass I haven't seen that either. I have seen the sending unit before, and have found a couple of threads on them when I was looking up some information for a friend. I did start a thread on thesamba to see how to test it, but I left it out at Jason's so I cant even mess with it. The end where the wire comes through does have some kind of shield, I doubt I use it even if it works because I don't see anyway to extend the wire there is not enough left to tag onto.

sand...sand....and more sanding. It doesn't seem like much was accomplished but I blocked the tank and decklid today and Jeremy sprayed another coat of primer after I fixed a couple of areas that needed some help. I am still not 100% happy with the tank so it will take another session. This is the stage that fills like it moves at a snails pace but I am having a blast so I don't plan to rush anything at this point.

I sprayed a guide coat and got after it.
