Hello DLK family from Frank Scott, a new prospect. My wife Lisa and I are from the Alvin area and regularly hang out with our other VW family from the league city and clear lake area. My passion for VW began when I was probably 9 or 10. My father had a purple metal flake manx clone and he would put me in the drivers seat, id push in the clutch, he'd set the idle up some , and me and my dog would drive around the pasture for a long while, at least until he got tired of watching over us. The when I was 14, when on a vacation trip my father bought a 1967 java green sedan to pull behind his Winnebago. I drove that car all over the mountains of new mexico while he was off bear hunting. That later became my first car and my love for Vws began. Everytime I sit in a vw with OE interior and it has "that smell", it takes me back to that time
I ended up butchering it and turned it into a baja. Actually that was my first motor to build at 15, boy was that a long time ago! Had several other vws along the years with my most recent projects being a manx clone I built from scratch and my current ride, a 1968 sedan that I did a ground up resto on and finished in 2012. Im looking forward to being a part of DLK and meeting other VW peeps who share the same passion as I do. As you know, people just don't understand the obsession.... If your ever in Alvin look us up!
