Today I used my FJ to tow home the '53 travel trailer we just bought from about 2 hrs up the coast. It pulled it really nice, barley knew it was back there.

The trailer is pretty cool. We had been looking off and on for one for a while, came across this one on CL and decided to pull the trigger. It had been restored in the past and is pretty nice. Mainly just needs to be cleaned up a little and re-sealed in a few areas. Eventually I want to put some flexible solar panels on the roof and a 12v battery and inverter to run the lights and fridge. Right now they are powered by plugging 110v into the trailer.

Thanks guys. Like I said, it's been restored, but most everything is original. Now we have to start making it ours. New curtains, bedding, etc.

Got this thing registered the other day, it's officially mine now! :P
I also sealed a few leaks, hopefully...
I ran the fridge off 110 v for a few days and measured the power consumption so I can start figuring out my power system. Looks like the fridge running all day and lights on in the evenings consume about 1.4 kWh of power per day. Based on that, I can size batteries and maybe some solar panels so I can have juice off the grid. That and a port-a-potty and we'll be set. :P

Camping this past weekend in some local woods. Thank God i bought a small propane heater, it was cold at night and the old trailer isnt really insulated and all the windows are pretty drafty. We camped 2 nights and had a good time.

The hand pump for the sink crapped out and i didnt discover it till the moring we were headed out. I need to see if it can be rebuilt. Luckily the camp site had running water. And I'm still thinking about adding some betteries and an inverter too for power off the grid. No shortage of projects.
