You can probably pick up a steering column at Pinemont auto salvage. https://www.facebook.com/pinemontauto/ Gary has tons of parts. The Harvest in Austin has a swap section that is usually pretty good.

Cool buggy. You know, I used to really hate buggies, but over the years they have managed to grow on me a bit

Over the last year I've made absolutely zero progress on my '58 and/or the dune buggy. However, like a fool still remain committed to my VW addiction. In fact, I just picked up a 1963 bug, which will be the subject of another topic. However, before I start my 63's topic I felt it necessary to address my '58 and the dune buggy. Additionally, to justify my latest addition, the '63 bug, I sadly sold the dune buggy just last week. It now resides in Louisiana.

So it is with a heavy heart I've decided I will sell the subject car. Over the weekend I actually picked up another VW that is super nice and needs to be kept in the garage. Seeing how I only have space for two cars in the garage and my wife mandates she gets one of those spots I'm forced to sell the '58. I spent most of yesterday taking photos and getting the '58 ready for sale. Once i get the ad up on thesamba I'll be sure to post the link here.

Damn, wish I had room, I wouldn't mind picking it up.
