Well, we pulled the motor out again because it was still chattering real bad. We're going to try another pressure plate (warrantied by Kermit :) ), and hopefully that'll fix the problem.

Does anybody have a good 12V flywheel they could take some measurements from?

check your bowden tube for the clutch cable. broken tube can cause chatter and sloppy/changing engagement issues.

Well we put the motor back in with the new flywheel (thanks a lot Ethan!) and pressure plate, but I had no idea there was an O-ring inside the flywheel on the crankshaft side :? . So we pulled it out again and put that O-ring in, and now it looks like the throw-out bearing went bad, and I have no idea why. It probably has a couple of thousand miles on it, and it's a German Sachs one too :help: .
