I'm hoping to put something together this month for the BAVWC but would like to make it a multi-club venture. Probably the w/e of 7/26. Maybe East Beach or Galveston SP. Either grill there or head for the Spot afterwards to grab a bite. A couple of the guys work evenings on the w/e so between that, beating the crowds to claim a spot and the heat in general, I'm thinking earlier is better.

How about a big beetle sand sculpture? I'd really love to do a pig roast in the sand, but that might be a little too ambitious for a first outing. If this goes over well maybe another in August would be doable.

Let me know if you're interested. (how come no sunglasses on the smiley's?) :geek: :ugeek:

That sounds good, I've been wanting to do a beach cruise for a while.

One of the radio stations is putting on a mullet throwing contest on east beach that day too... how can we miss that!!!!???? btw I hope they mean the fish... better bring a wig for Bucket just in case. We'll see who mans up... Ha. j/k Paul.

I'd wear it, but 165 isn't really a test of strenth. That'd be more like a midget toss.

East beach does have a parking fee, $8/car not sure when they start charging.
Galveston SP has fees too, $5/person, 13+ (like the driveins in the old days, we'll need a panel bus or Evan's Ford...).

If I didn't already have scout campouts planned before and after, I'd suggest really goin' all the way... Probably too hot for that, anyway.

Not much discussion... Someone mentioned something about Twinkies and airconditioning but I'm not sure what that meant. ;)

I'm still planning to go. Probably the 61st Pier if we get moving early enough. Otherwise, probably wander down to East Beach. If anyone would like to join us, gimmee a shout. 8-)

Ok, I get the hint. My boy had something else come up so anyway, so we're out. Beach cruise is cancelled. May try again next month.

If anyone in the Clear Lake area wants to wander by the house Saturday morning, I'll be messing with one project or another. If you have a stump grinder, I'll share some cypress mulch...

What about an October cruise to the beach? Right now it seems like everyone I've talked to is sticking to evening cruise-ins because of the heat 8-) i like the idea of Galveston state park. That way we can park the dubs in a parking lot.

No promises right now, but I might donate another mailbox to be raffled off at the beach cruise. The design would be something different from the others ;)

Well there seem to be a few options now...

9/27 - There's a benefit for a Galveston kid with Leukemia that looks like a really good cause... with this, the Night Show and Trader Village, this would be a VWful weekend.
http://www.aircoolers.org/v/showthread.php?t=5599

10/4 - Still in play, relax after the prior weekends shows...

10/18-10/19/2008 Surfing competition
North Open presented by Underground Surf Depot - Galveston
http://www.surftgsa.org/Main/Schedule

Not for nothing, but as long as I'm not rebuilding my house, I'd be willing to do 9/27 and 10/19...

Opinions?
