The 55 has been my daily driver since I moved, the weather is just too nice out here not to drive it every day. My commute is only about 4.5 miles each way and on surface streets, so its a nice short drive, with plenty of stoplights for terrorizing unsuspecting yuppies
I believe I have found the source of the vibrations that happen when the car is driven on the highway for 10 min or more: the fulcrum plates are trying to seize. Someone on STF had the same problem. Looks like the engine and tranny will be coming out when we get a new place with a proper garage and I am reunited with all my tools and equipment. In the mean time, I have started jetting the carbs. I got the idle jet sorted out, it's at about 13.5-14:1 now during cruise on the idle circuit, just where I wanted it. Should get great gas millage now below 3k rpm. Just a few minutes ago I swapped in one size smaller main jets to start leaning that circuit out. I have a feeling I will need to go at least one more jet size, but this should give me a start in the right direction. I will probably pick up another 10+ hp across the board once I get the jetting dialed in. Look out yuppies!
