There used to be/is a place on Spring Cypress near Kuykendahl. I'll check the name of the place tomorrow on my way to work but I think its Enviro Clean or something like that.

I can't wait to be done! Working with sheet metal has been tough on my hands. I slipped tonight and look a chunk of skin out of my thumb.

Does anyone know of a media blaster in town? I emailed Mo's muscle cars here in conroe and they quoted $85/hr shop rate and estimated between $750-$1500 for everything. Is that a fair price?

HotStreet....I'm planning on having mine soda blasted there as well. They are kinda backed up now because of all the rain we've had the last week. When you say "everything" what did it include in price?

They said it included everything. Pan, exterior, interior, backside of all the panels. My car is completely disassembled, it would be really easy to do everything.

I wonder how difficult it would be to do myself. I could buy a big compressor and alot of media for that price.

usually they epoxy primer it for that price. you could make a blast booth out of 6mil poly and 4inch pvc. Ive got an area behind my metal building you could use to blast it, if you dont already have an area.

Thanks for the offer, I might take you up on that. For the money I could buy a big IR compressor like this one..

http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_6970_211720_211720

and a pressure feed blaster like...

That big compressor would have come in handy ALOT during all the sheet metal work. I've been using my 15 gallon 3hp peak compressor with the cut off wheel at maybe a 10% duty cycle.

Some more pictures from this week.

Engine sheet metal all roughed in. It can be completed when I find a rear engine tin and figure out the seal channel.

Cut off the lower portion of the apron to start of the roll pan. You can see from the second picture the condition of the apron was poor. If this was a restoration it would have needed to be replaced. Its hard to see but there was a hole the size of a license plate in the middle of the apron. I think the car was raced long ago and the hole was cut for a t1 exhaust (stinger maybe).

Update.

I built a dolly to move the body around. I picked up some scrap metal and casters, cost about $65. I built it so that it can be taken down easy when I am finished.
