Thanks !!

Kostya and I fought the pushrods until midnight. Finally, that one last try was it! We didn't have a push rod adjustment tool, so we used an old pushrod, cut it down some threaded it, and screwed the halfs together with a stud it the middle. This didn't work good for us, the spring pressure while rotating the engine (even with one vaulve spring off) caused the push rod tool to bend. We were close, so after some measuring we just welded the aluminum push rod back together with the length we needed and it worked perfect. Now we need a new set of chromoly push rods to cut to the right length. What a PITA !!! :furious:

Off to KAR parts in the morning , hopefully they can help us out with the problem, those push rods aren't cheap.

Thanks Kostya for the help.

Patrick and Lori, I'm glad you guys stopped by 8-)

Cutting pushrods is definitely a PITA. So is assembling them. You really have to beat the living crap out of them to get them together. You need a BFH (big fucking hammer) for sure, lol

Yeah, you're right about that... assembly that is. Wow those things didn't want to budge. We even put the pushrod ends in the freezer first

I guess you could heat the PR a bit too, that might help. I drill mine just 1-2 mm to help get them started, otherwise it's pretty much impossible, at least with my BugPacks it was.

You know... we even unintenionally flared the end of one PR by driving the hardened tip in. Those tips are the problem. The machining is off on them, some worse than others. I used EMPI, so you have to consider where they are made, LOL

Before pulling the motor, I pulled one of the Weber 34s and installed a Webber 44 to check for clearance

Just fits, it would work better if I bought the shorter intakes for T3. Right now the air cleaner won't go on. Half an inch too tall. Maybe I could cut the air cleaner down a bit.

You should throw a Berg 5-Speed in there while you're swapping the motor out, I hear you have one of those at the shop that's not being used
