Well here is the deal. I have been wanting to build a ratty looking, but functional, bug for a while. So i thought this would be a good starting point. Also, i am getting a 56 euro oval for a lot less than i have been able to find one for. I don't think that i can go wrong?????

Then go for it man.

Billy, the heater channels are part of the body, not the pan...
Looks like a 56 pan to me, the heater control is in the right place.
Yeah, the heater outlets should be where billy's are though. Looks like someone replaced the heater channels on the body. If you're not worried about that sort of stuff, then it makes no difference. From the pics looks like a fairly solid place to start. It gets extra points for having semaphores too in my book! ;)

go for it..it wont take much to get it going and it looks solid.....it will def be a nice car when you are finished..

brian you are so right i dont know what i was thinking about the heater vents...just making a statement..

with that said just remember when you are ordering carpet to order for a late 57 and it will all work out...that is the only time when the heater channells matter...good luck and i hope you get the car..

Well the deal is done. I am getting the car on Saturday. All of you probably think that i am crazy with all the projects i have had. But hey i have managed to trade up from a 1973 std beetle to a 1956 oval window for basically no money out of my pocket. I call that a good reason to have a bunch of projects. When its all said an done with i will have a 1956 euro oval and a 1965 bug.

"Not I"

lol
I wouldn't hack an oval that could be saved, one with matching chassis numbers and semaphores. But that's just me. ;)
