Well working on my kids bike today and I was cleaning the carb. i accidentally sprayed some cleaner on the car's old crappy paint. Immediatley it started to run. So I sprayed some more and the old paint wipes off fairly easily right down to the old paint/primer. looks like I could strip the whole car fairly easily to og paint. might make the new paint job better yes/no? the old paint does not seem to be phased by the cleaner at all.

Well got my seals so I went to put the windshield in. Seal was harder than I remember but I figured it was 17 years ago since I've done a windshield so I probably didn't remember correctly. Well I didn't match the window up first!!! Really sucks!!!!

not driving this week!

I wonder what that windshield fits :hillbilly: It looks like an early 70s Camaro glass

not sure but the guy I picked up the spare car from only had VW's. a bunch of them. the parts car had a broken window so he gave me this one. It was stored on top of his square...I was thinking maybe 411 or 412?

Ok so took a look at some pics. definitely not a 411...oh well extra window for something. maybe worth a gold mine if I knew what it fit.

got some 2 liters for the square project. traded for my centerlines that would not fit. i like them. Will strip paint and just polish them some time later but wanted to get rubber on them and make sure everything fit. I'll have to drop the narrow axles in to lower it some. Only running 195/60/15 but I'm super close to rubbing. No fender rolling yet though. Maybe lower it and narrow it and some 215/50/15's later. Still need front rubber also.

Windshield IN! Rubber up front now also. Only need to fix an intake leak and I have a driver. Been on several trips around the block and it does OK. Runs good but leaks oil from several places. Plan on rebuilding the motor and thanks to Eric A it looks like I'll have a temp engine to roll for a while during the rebuild. 1st chore...TX safety test and sign up the plates proper.

Then adjust the front bumper so it does not sag, install the newer front seats I have, Maybe one more notch lower on both ends but I hate the negative camber look of the rear wheels! and some $129 center caps I like the wheels but its not cheap for real 2liter center caps!
