Looks good! So what's going to get done first, the Ghia, or the Bug?

Maybe a little of both, but should be Ghia; we'll see...

Out on FM 3083?

I am still uncertain of its true year. Titled as a '60 (built in Nov. 1959), color of '55-'56, and the vin plate is screwed on (would that be normal for this year?).

Based on the stamping number you pointed out earlier (under vin tag), it would be a 58 body. The last column (last 6 numbers) of the below chart are body numbers. I got this chart from The Samba. Check the tunnel (Chassis) to see if there is a serial number stamped under where the rear seat would cover it. You can compare that serial number also.

I saw that same chart as well and that added to the confusion. Then in a separate post, I read that VW would 'zero out' those numbers every once in a while and that the body stamping was an internal way of tracking the body during assembly.

The first thing I checked out in the field was the tunnel VIN and it matches the plate in the spare wheel well area.

Some mock up pics to determine what is missing in from the boxes of parts that came with the car...

Things I know, at this point, I am missing are:

Passenger side aluminum track for ragtop
'60 speedo
Left front turn signal support
Headlight adjusting screw
Right side dash grill
Windshield
Rear window
Rear Pop-outs
Back seat-bottom frame and spring
'60 stock wheel
Motor
Transmission horn support bolts
'60 steering wheel
I NEED a 4 tab hood!

I'm sure glad The Classic is coming up... :)
